Art
I work from my South London ‘garret’ studio, and although in the past I have produced figure paintings, drawings, and portraiture, my work has graduated towards seascapes, landscapes and flora. Whilst I do have some experience of art education, I consider myself to be self-taught. For many years I worked mostly in acrylics, but now that I have a dedicated studio space, I have recently returned to painting in oil, and am currently enjoying experimentation, with a view to creating a new body of work.
My more recent paintings are a natural extension of the emotional response that I have in specific surroundings or circumstances. They stem from a desire to express an ineffable connection to a place, time and feeling, or to the beauty, colours and contrasts of nature. Sometimes this response requires abstraction, and I am working towards finding a balance between representation and expression.
